Exposure Visit

Every year as a part of the regular program, Mountain Spirit is organizing member exposure visits to enhance member’s capacity and provide greater exposure to knowledge, skill, and development.


Exposure Visit to TEWA and NEPAN

As a part of its annual program, a team of around 20 members from Mountain Spirit (MS) visited TEWA on June 18, 2018. The purpose of the site visit was to learn about the organization itself and observing the ways of carrying out projects, raising funds, and managing programs in more detail at a higher capacity.

The program was led by Ms. Urmila Shrestha, Executive Director at TEWA and the presentation was facilitated by Ms. Shristi Jayana, Communications and Documentation Officer at TEWA. After that, the team headed towards NEPAN’s office at Koteshwor. Mr. Fatik Thapa, executive director of NEPAN gave a wonderful presentation on NEPAN.


Member Exposure Visit Ghale Gaun

MS Members at Ghale Gaun

A team of eleven members from Mountain Spirit visited Ghale Gaun in Lamjung from 25th to 27th April 2014. The main objective of this trip was to give members an opportunity to explore and interact with other mountain communities. Ghale Gaun is located 205 km northwest of Kathmandu, and the majority of the 115 households are of the Gurung (Ghale) ethnic group. The village has become a popular example of successful homestay tourism in Nepal. The group included MS members Mr. Ang Rita Sherpa, Mr. Ang Phinjo Sherpa, Mr. Lhakpa Tenji Lama (Sherpa), Mr. Sonam Dorjee Sherpa, Ms. Yangji Doma Sherpa, Ms. Chhoti Sherpa, Ms. Sangita Lama, Ms. Indira Lama along with non-MS members Mr. Pasang Sherpa, Mr. Pema Sherpa, and Mr. Dinesh Tamang. They greatly enjoyed exploring Ghale Gaun, experiencing the hospitality of the Gurung homestays, and watching a Gurung cultural program performed by local elders and the women’s group.
