Mountain Spirit has conducted various capacity building training and workshop in collaboration with various national and international organizations.


Sacred Sites, Conservation and livelihoo
d Workshop

A two-day workshop was organized on December 4-5, 2008 in Kathmandu to discuss the importance of traditional concepts of sacred natural sites including beyuls. The workshop intended to bring together various persons actively engaged in conservation and management work in Himalayan beyuls including local lamas, protected area managers, policy-makers, community leaders, community members, and NGO representatives. The workshop was organized by The Mountain Institute (TMI) in partnership with the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC), Eco-Himal, and Mountain Spirit.

Strategic Planning Workshop

A two-day Strategic Planning Workshop was conducted on August 7th and 8th 2004 in Kathmandu at MS office. The workshop cum meeting developed 20 years vision and 5 years strategic plan to fulfill MS objectives. Altogether fifteen MS members participated in the program. The strategic plan was prepared by exercising the Appreciative Participatory Planning and Action (APPA) and Logical Framework. MS General Member Mr. Mingma Norbu Sherpa had facilitated the workshop cum meeting and the reports were prepared by Ms.Ngima Sherpa and Pasang Dolma Sherpa respectively.

Basic Accounting and Financial Management Training cum Workshop

Mountain Spirit as in previous years, organized a “Basic Accounting and Financial Management Training Cum Workshop on 25th and 26th September 2004 in Kathmandu. The training was conducted by B.K. & Company, Kathmandu. The training program was organized to empower MS members. Altogether ten participants took the training and there were four facilitators.

Lodge Management training

Namche VDC, Thame Valley Solukhumbu- Kumbu region is one of the most famous areas for tourism in Nepal. Since the flow of tourists is in huge numbers during the peak seasons so, lodge management is one of the important aspects that should be taken into consideration by the people from this region. In order to manage the lodges available for the tourists, Lodge Management Training was necessary for the people of this region. Hence, Mountain Spirit organized a seven day (10th-16th November 2000) training which was supported by an Austrian INGO and Eco-Himal  respectively. The training was provided by Mr. Krishna Prasad Sharma in which Mr. Mingma Norbu Sherpa was the project leader, Mr. Lhakpa Tenji Lama was the training co-ordinator whereas Mr. Gelu Sherpa was the training facilitator as well as the reporter. Altogether there were 29 participants (26 females and 3 males) from 5 different wards of Namche VDC. During the training, the participants were taught to prepare 50 different food items. Furthermore, there were discussions on various topics namely: front office, restaurant section, kitchen section, housekeeping, first aid, personal hygiene, sanitation, family planning, and fatal disease AIDS.
